Ideas about who does what when

Participants / Membership

  • Offer some classes open to the public
  • Training space is for members
  • Who can become a member?
  • Possible tiers of membership
    • Access hours based on vetting / trust e.g. anyone can join and train during "open" hours, only vetted members have after hours access
  • Membership requires demonstration of competence in the apparatus they wish to use
    • Membership target is not beginners, it is professionals or amateurs with an existing practice
  • Need clear pathways to membership, gaining competence

Staff

Teaching

  • Teaching staff need to be qualified
    • What does qualified mean?
    • There need to be clear pathways to gaining qualifications
  • Teaching staff need to take continuing education courses
    • Org needs to provide education opportunities for staff
      • low or no cost to staff when possible
      • Bring in outside instructors for teacher training to keep ideas fresh
  • Members teaching other members
    • Not handled by org

Private Lessons

  • Member teaching member
    • Not handled by org need to talk to lawyer about liability / insurance
  • Member teaching nonmember - Direct (member brings in student, coordinates directly)
    • Needs some sort of qualifications
    • Rental fee?
    • How does insurance work?
  • Staff teaching member or nonmember - Managed through org
    • Do we need this? Or should all private lessons just be handled directly between student and instructor?
    • Most stringent qualifications
